WOW, what an amazing couple of months!

The last couple of weeks has seen us have much success with the Primary & Intermediate Schools Regional competition and the Wellington Cross Country Championships. 
It’s been a challenging couple of weeks for some of our young runners as there has been a lot of sickness around.

The PRIMARY & INTERMEDIATE REGIONALS were held at Kaitoke park Tuesday 7th July. Results from our club members who represented the Upper Valley are as follows:Yr 4 Boys - 2nd  Jonty Bamber, 15th Harrison Watt
Yr 5 Girls - 5th Charlotte Floodsmith –Ryan
Well done  Charlotte as you took a fall and with everyone jumping over you and you managed to collect yourself together in true professional style to carry on to finish in an amazing 5th place. Couragious I say!
Yr 5 Boys - 15th Luke Elliott, 39th Cole Haines, 41st Jacob Elliott
Yr 6 Boys - 3rd Nikolai Allen, 11th Joshua Clegg, 48th Hamish Hastie
Nikolai was pipped at the post! An AWESOME  gutsy run Nikolai considering you couldn’t breathe properly and you were all achey due to the flu the week before. Your determination and courage is to be commended.
Yr 7 Girls - 6th Madison Nydam
Yr 8 Boys - 42nd  Harry Poland
Well done  Harry for seeing the race through to the end, you were so full of a cold, what great courage.

Unfortunately  McKenzie Jacques was unable to compete in the Regionals as she fractured her elbow at school a few weeks ago.  McKenzie  had also been chosen to represent her school  in the Upper valley team like the others above. Also so had Logan Slee  who was unable to compete due to illness, and Emma Main who unfortunately was unable to complete her race due to illness on the day.

Nikolai Allen, Charlotte Floodsmith-Ryan and Madison Nydam have  qualified for the Wellington team.  They  will be competing with the team in the Inter-Regional Primary and Intermediate cross country  in Blenhiem on 22nd September.
McKenzie Jacques, Emma Main and Logan Slee will be joining the team in Blenhiem .

WELLINGTON CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPS 11th July
Fantastic course if you like the pain of the hills, plus nothing like throwing in a couple of hurdles for a really good challenge. I know this is one of Nikolai’s favourite courses.

Well Done to Emily Kelly who came 4th  in U16W and has qualified for the Wellington team  to be competing in Christchurch at the NZ Cross Country Champs on 23rd July, Fantastic for someone who is in their  first Harrier season.  Good Luck for CHCH Emily. Also Well Done to Shauni James who was 6th in U19W.
